Moving to Las Vegas: A Life-Changing Decision

Hi, my name is Jason Griggs, and if you are reading this right now, I hope you are thinking about moving to Las Vegas. I can confidently say it was the single BIGGEST and best decision I have ever made in my entire life. Let's rewind back to 2011.

I had just graduated from graduate school at Adelphi University and was at a crossroads in my future path. My parents, both teachers, pushed me towards education, so I followed that path and earned a master's degree in Physical Education. During my college years, I frequently visited my best friend Tom, my childhood next-door neighbor, who was attending UNLV. After my first visit to Las Vegas, I was hooked!

Mind you, the real estate market had crashed in 2010, and Las Vegas was hit the hardest. At 21 years old, I had no clue what was going on in the world. All I saw in Las Vegas was very, very bright opportunity. I decided to take a leap of faith and answered a Craigslist ad offering a teaching job as a PE teacher. The salary was a whopping $32,000.00. I packed a bag and sprinted to the interview. I got the job and never left Las Vegas.

What initially attracted me to the city was the abundance of opportunity. Las Vegas is a town full of hustlers. I loved being in an environment surrounded by driven, ambitious people. As time went on, I was given the chance to coach a lacrosse team at a local high school. Through the relationships I built with the parents in the program, one parent took a liking to me and offered me an opportunity in real estate. I quickly bought my first home and shared with my friends and family back home how much cheaper the real estate was compared to New York.

There was just something about Las Vegas that I absolutely loved. First, the warm weather—no snow, and it was sunny every single day! What could beat that? There was also no traffic, and the cost of living was very affordable for a young person. As I grew, I realized I had made the right choice. With the city growing and opportunities abound, Las Vegas was on the verge of exploding.

What happened next was constant visits back home where I told my friends, family, and old coworkers how great Las Vegas was. I continued to grow and eventually built out a full real estate business. Today, I own 40 rental properties here and run the biggest vacation rental company in town.

As you continue to read my blog, I will delve deeper into how I grew as a person and as a professional in this great city. Now, one of my passions is helping others move here and giving them the same opportunity this amazing city has given me.
